Silicosis Settlement Agreement
Compensation for qualified miners depends largely on the degree of lung impairment of the ex-miner or the results of a post-mortuary lung inspection. Beyond facilitating compensation for class actions, the OLD working group aims to overcome the serious shortcomings of the Medical Bureau of Occupational Diseases (MBOD), where legal compensation is paid to minors. Hundreds of thousands of former miners or their families who contracted silicosis or tuberculosis in the mines should be compensated.
